Leadership and Institutional Development

The Pakistan Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) was established in Islamabad in 1972, with Hafiz S. A. Rehman serving as the Founder Secretary General. PJCA became the first cultural association in Pakistan registered under the Foreign Cultural Associations (Regulations and Functioning) Act, 1975.

Over the past five decades, PJCA has maintained close collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad, organizing numerous cultural events to promote Japanese culture in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. In 1984, Hafiz S. A. Rehman also visited Japan as a member of an official cultural delegation. Efforts were further made to expand PJCA’s outreach through the formation of PJCA chapters in Peshawar and Lahore.
