Congratulations to Mr. Sohail Ahmed Siddiqui
Mr. Jamal Shah, President of the Pakistan Japan Cultural Association (PJCA), Islamabad and the Executive Committee warmly congratulate Mr. Sohail Ahmed Siddiqui on the publication of a remarkable book highlighting his literary contributions to the promotion of Japanese Haiku in South Asia.
The bilingual book titled “Sohail Ahmed Siddiqui – Haiku ka Fahim Alamdar”, compiled by renowned poet and critic Zahid Hussain Zahid Johri, presents a selection of essays and tributes by prominent national and international scholars, poets, and Japanologists.
The publication recognizes Mr. Siddiqui’s lifelong efforts in promoting the three-line Japanese poetic form Haiku in the region. As the founder editor of the multilingual literary journal Haiku International, he has played a significant role in building literary and cultural bridges between Pakistan and Japan.
The book includes reflections and comments by distinguished personalities such as Bill Higginson, Suzanne Aitken-Lip, Susumu Takiguchi, former Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Sadaki Numata, and several renowned literary figures from Pakistan and abroad.
Recently, copies of the book were presented to the Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Hattori Masaru, and his advisor Shigeyuki Ataka during a Haiku Mushaira held in their honor.
PJCA appreciates Mr. Siddiqui’s valuable contributions in strengthening cultural understanding through literature and wishes him continued success in promoting the spirit of Haiku and Japan–Pakistan cultural exchange.
