A Tale of Two Teas – Maacha & Qehwa by Zaki Iqbal

Tea is not just a beverage — it’s a bridge between hearts, cultures, and generations.

In Japan, Maacha (抹茶) is prepared with deep mindfulness. Every whisk of the bamboo chasen is a graceful ritual, turning vibrant green powder into a calming, frothy experience. It reflects the essence of Zen — harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility.

In Pakistan, Green Qehwa is a symbol of hospitality and warmth. Simmered slowly with cardamom, saffron, and love, this golden elixir is often shared after meals or during heartfelt conversations. Its aroma speaks of centuries of tradition along the Silk Road.

While different in taste and technique, both Maacha and Qehwa celebrate the art of slowing down, connecting, and savoring life — one cup at a time.
