“Japan in Art” Exhibition Inaugurated at PNCA, Strengthening Cultural Bonds
Islamabad, March 25, 2026:
The Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and the Pakistan Japan Cultural Association (PJCA), inaugurated the vibrant art exhibition “Japan in Art” at the National Art Gallery, PNCA.
The exhibition was formally inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Shuichi Akamatsu, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, alongside Mr. Ayoub Jamali, Director General PNCA, and Mr. Jamal Shah, President PJCA. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, artists, and distinguished guests.
Featuring around 40 artworks by emerging Pakistani artists, the exhibition presents a creative interpretation of Japanese culture. Drawing inspiration from traditional forms such as Ukiyo-e and Sumi-e, as well as cultural symbols like cherry blossoms, kimono, and Mount Fuji, the artworks beautifully reflect cross-cultural understanding.
In his remarks, Ambassador Akamatsu appreciated the remarkable talent of the young artists and emphasized that the exhibition represents the enduring friendship between Japan and Pakistan—rooted in cultural exchange and people-to-people connections.
Mr. Jamal Shah, in his address, highlighted the role of art as a bridge between cultures and appreciated the efforts of participating students. He also announced the launch of PJCA’s official website, aimed at promoting cultural ties and showcasing the Association’s legacy and activities.
