PJCA Launches Its 1st International Haiku Anthology/ 2026 – Call for Submissions Open
The Pakistan Japan Cultural Association, Islamabad in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan is delighted to officially launch its 1st International Haiku Anthology 2026, inviting poets from around the world to participate in this unique global literary initiative.
About the Initiative
Haiku, one of Japan’s most celebrated poetic forms, continues to inspire writers worldwide through its simplicity, depth, and expressive power. With a longstanding commitment to promoting Japanese cultural traditions, PJCA Islamabad now extends its platform globally through this anthology.
This initiative builds upon PJCA’s continued collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan and its efforts to promote Japanese-form micropoetry through exhibitions, translations, and literary engagement.
Call for Haiku Submissions
Poets, writers, and haiku enthusiasts from across the globe are invited to submit their original English haiku.
Submission Period:
15 April – 15 May 2026 (PST)

Submission Guidelines (Key Points)
- Submit 1–2 original haiku (only one will be selected)
- Haiku must be unpublished and not AI-generated
- Entries should follow traditional haiku form (no experimental formatting)
- Content must be respectful and free from plagiarism or inappropriate material
- Only selected contributors will be notified via email
Publication Details
- The anthology will be published on the PJCA official website and available for free download
- Selected haiku will be translated into Urdu and Japanese, with a select number also being artistically composed into musical pieces
- Contributors will retain full ownership of their work, with full credit given upon publication
- Limited printed copies will be produced for presentation and archival purposes
