Mr. Jamal Shah, President of the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA), hosted a private farewell dinner on 21 July 2026 in honor of Mr. Takane Kazumasa, outgoing Head of the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan.

The dinner provided an opportunity to reflect on the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Japan and to acknowledge Mr. Kazumasa’s valuable contribution to promoting cultural understanding and strengthening bilateral cultural relations during his tenure in Pakistan.

During the evening, Mr. Jamal Shah expressed his appreciation for Mr. Kazumasa’s support for cultural initiatives and people-to-people exchanges. Mr. Kazumasa, in turn, thanked Mr. Shah and PJCA for their continued efforts in fostering closer ties between the two countries.

As a gesture of goodwill and friendship, Mr. Jamal Shah and Mr. Takane Kazumasa exchanged commemorative souvenirs, symbolizing the enduring relationship between PJCA and the Embassy of Japan.

Their conversation covered a range of topics of mutual interest, including cultural cooperation, contemporary art, and developments in the region. Mr. Jamal Shah also shared his vision of introducing the works of the renowned Pakistani artist Ustad Bashir to Japanese audiences through a future exhibition in Japan.

Mr. Takane Kazumasa also shared plans for a proposed cultural programme featuring a visiting Japanese pianist and sought Mr. Jamal Shah’s views and advice on the initiative, reflecting the close cooperation and mutual trust that have long characterized the relationship between the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) and the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan.

PJCA is delighted to welcome Ms. Matsuta Megu, who has recently assumed the responsibilities of Deputy Head of the Public Affairs Section, succeeding Ms. Mamiko Ura. The Association looks forward to working closely with her in further strengthening cultural and people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and Japan.

PJCA expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Takane Kazumasa for his friendship, dedication, and valuable support throughout his tenure in Pakistan, and wishes him every success in his future assignments.
