Update about PJCA 1st International Haiku Anthology 2026

The Pakistan Japan Cultural Association, Islamabad in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan announced on 12 April 2026 its 1st International Haiku Anthology 2026, inviting poets from around the world to participate in this global literary initiative. The call for submissions was closed on 15 May 2026.

Haiku, one of Japan’s most refined and contemplative poetic forms, continues to inspire writers across cultures and continents through its simplicity, depth, and universal resonance. Rooted in nature and human reflection, it transcends linguistic, geographic, and cultural boundaries.

With a sustained commitment to promoting Japanese literary traditions and intercultural dialogue, PJCA Islamabad has extended this platform to the global creative community through this anthology.

This initiative reflects PJCA’s continued collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan and its broader efforts to encourage appreciation of Japanese-form micropoetry through exhibitions, translations, and literary engagement.

Publication Details

• The anthology will be published on the PJCA official website and made available for free download
• Selected haiku will be translated into Urdu and Japanese, with a selection also being artistically interpreted into musical compositions
• Contributors retain full ownership of their work, with appropriate credit given upon publication
• Limited printed copies will be produced for archival and presentation purposes
